I've been quiet in your inbox lately—not because I didn't have anything to say, but because I was getting crystal clear on exactly who I'm here to serve.
A few weeks ago, I was back at my alma mater for reunion weekend, leading a workshop on "Claiming Self-Authority and Giving Yourself Permission" for fellow Tufts alums.
Standing in front of that room of brilliant professionals—accomplished women who had never met before but shared this common struggle—what struck me wasn't just their intelligence. It was how many of these accomplished people were second-guessing decisions they were more than qualified to make.
That workshop crystallized something I've been seeing in my coaching practice for years, especially with the analytical women I work with in tech, STEM, and environmental fields.
Here's what I now know for certain: You don't need more data to make better decisions. You need to stop second-guessing and start trusting who you already are.
My focus has sharpened: I help analytical women in tech, STEM, and environmental fields move through transitions and leadership challenges with clear, confident decisions.
Now, about this whole "summer career work" thing...
I get it. Your brain says "Summer = vacation mode. Career stuff = fall." And if you're a parent? Add "kids are home from school and I actually want to spend time with them" to that internal dialogue. Especially if they're getting closer to leaving home—these summers feel precious and finite.
But here's what your analytical mind might be missing:
Summer is actually decision season.
While everyone else is waiting for September to "get serious," you have a rare advantage:
- Fewer competing priorities mean your brilliant brain can actually process without constant interruption
- Perspective shift happens naturally—vacation, slower pace, different routines all create space for clarity
- Fall opportunities are being planned right now by companies coming out of summer with fresh budgets and open roles
The women I work with aren't waiting for perfect timing—because with kids, there never is perfect timing. They're using this season to:
- Stop overthinking that promotion conversation and have it (even if it means scheduling around camp pickup)
- Trust their expertise enough to pivot into leadership roles (while modeling decision-making for their kids)
- Make the transition they've been analyzing for months (because September will be here with back-to-school chaos whether they're ready or not)
