When “secure” started to feel like “stuck”

Hi Reader,

A few years ago, I was in a job that looked impressive from the outside—but felt completely wrong from the inside.

After a big reorg at Nike, I’d been moved into a role that made no sense for my experience, my values, or frankly, who I was as a person.

I felt invisible. Underutilized. Like I was slowly fading into someone else’s idea of “successful.”

I also often felt physically sick.

And yet… I stayed.

Because it was Nike.
Because it seemed secure.
Because I was afraid to walk away without a clear next step.

Then one weekend, I went to the Oregon Coast. And during a walk along the water—chilly wind, crashing waves, sand in my shoes—I heard something I hadn’t let myself hear in months:

“You can’t keep doing this.”

"I am ready to leave now."

That voice was quiet, but it was mine.
And I finally trusted it.

That moment is why I’m hosting this:

🎤 Trust Yourself Table Talk
🗓️ July 16 at 4:00 pm PT
📍Virtual | Free | Small group format

This session is part mini-workshop, part real conversation.

We’ll explore:

  • How to stop outsourcing your confidence to job titles and expectations
  • How to give yourself permission to leave what’s misaligned
  • How to listen when your inner voice says, “Something’s got to change”

Then we’ll shift into a round table—where we get honest about what’s really getting in the way of clarity and self-trust.

If you're in a season of “I should stay…” but your body says otherwise—this is for you.

Because sometimes the biggest shift starts with the smallest act of self-authority.

Like showing up.

Warmly,

Becky

Hello Reader, As we close out 2025, a year that asked a lot from all of us, I keep coming back to something Cheryl Strayed said on Adam Grant’s WorkLife podcast five years ago. It has quietly shaped how I run my business, make decisions, and navigate the hard days. The Truest Thing (and Why We Need It Now) Cheryl Strayed—author of Wild and the Dear Sugar column—talked about the difference between the true thing and the truer thing. The true thing is often the fear. The doubt. The swirl of “I’m...

Hi Reader, Tomorrow’s the day!Trust Yourself Table Talk goes live Wednesday at 4:00 pm PT / 7:00 pm ET, and I wanted to pop in with a little pre-event pep talk. I asked a few clients how they used to answer: “So… tell me about yourself.” Here were some of the replies: 👉 “I grew up in Ohio and I really love cheese.” 👉 “Um… well… I have a cat named Olive – does that count?” 👉 “Honestly? I panic and start listing every job I’ve ever had since 1998.” We’ve all done it — blurted out random facts,...
